Towards a possible manifesto; proposing Arabfuturism/s (Conversation c) is a reworking of a transcript which documents the beginnings of a dialogue that took place between October 2012 and July 2015. The conversations that happened were primarily centred around a piece of writing written by one of the participants titled ”notes towards a manifesto”. These began to form part of a wider project of mapping, defining and proposing alternative narratives in the wake of a disintegration and collapse in the contrived fortresses of European geopolitical identities. Pluralised and in a state-of-becoming, Arabfuturism/s is a questioning. An iteration of text v.20 was published in a book compiled by artists, thinkers and free internet activists under a creative commons license, in memory of Bassel Khartabil who was arrested and detained without trial in 2012 before being transferred and executed in October 2015.
It is hoped that by increasing deposits, digital or otherwise, this contributes to a growing counterculture of thought and action that through time will be found and used in the construction of alternative states of becoming beyond the logic of the state.
